Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how daviesmarketinglimited.com (the “Site”) uses cookies and similar technologies in your browser or device. It supplements our Privacy Policy and should be read together with it. References to “cookies” include HTML5 web storage, session storage, and comparable local persistence mechanisms where they perform a similar function to cookies under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They can be “session” cookies, removed when you close the browser, or “persistent” cookies, which remain for a defined period. First-party cookies are set by the Site you are visiting; third-party cookies are set by another domain embedded in the page. Similar technologies include pixel tags, local shared objects, and software development kits that store identifiers locally.
How we use storage today
We use session storage to record that you have confirmed you are aged 18 or over for the duration of your browsing session. This reduces repeated age prompts while you navigate. We use local storage to remember whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies, so the banner does not reappear on every visit once you have made a choice. These items are strictly necessary for the basic operation of our compliance messaging and preference persistence. They do not track you across unrelated websites operated by us because we currently publish a single-site experience without a cross-site advertising network of our own.
Essential versus non-essential
Essential technologies are those required to provide a service you explicitly request, such as remembering a privacy choice or maintaining security during navigation. Non-essential technologies include many analytics, personalisation, and third-party advertising cookies that are not strictly necessary to deliver the core page. Where we deploy non-essential technologies, we will obtain your consent through the cookie banner before they run, except where an exemption applies under PECR. You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing Site storage or adjusting your selection when the banner is shown again after a reset.
Third-party content and embedded resources
Pages may display images or outbound links to operator and regulator websites. Loading a normal hyperlink when you click it may expose your browser to that third party’s cookies under their policies. Embedded players, widgets, or social plugins not currently used on the Site could, if introduced later, set their own cookies. If we add such embeds, we will update this Policy and, where required, gate them behind consent tools.
Analytics and performance measurement
If we enable first-party or privacy-preserving analytics to understand aggregate traffic (for example, aggregated page views without cross-site tracking), we will describe the vendor, data categories, retention, and lawful basis. Consent-based analytics will remain off by default until you opt in. You will be able to change your mind without detriment to essential Site functions.
Advertising and affiliate measurement
Outbound affiliate links may append query parameters so that operators attribute referrals. Those parameters travel only when you choose to click. Operators may then set their own cookies under their privacy notices. We do not control those technologies. If we implement on-Site conversion pixels in future, we will document them here and obtain consent where PECR mandates it.
Managing cookies in your browser
Major browsers let you block or delete cookies, block third-party cookies, and clear stored data per site. Instructions vary by vendor and version; consult your browser’s help centre. Blocking all cookies may impair Site features such as remembering your cookie decision until you reset storage manually. Private or incognito modes typically discard session storage at the end of the session, which may cause the age gate to reappear.
Do Not Track and global privacy controls
There is not yet a single legally binding standard for browser “Do Not Track” signals in the United Kingdom for all contexts. We monitor regulatory guidance. If a recognised global privacy control becomes legally operative for our processing, we will align our practices and update this Policy accordingly.
Data retention for cookie evidence
Where we maintain internal logs proving consent configuration changes, retention will be limited to what is reasonable to demonstrate compliance with PECR and ICO expectations, typically not longer than several years unless a dispute requires longer preservation.
Updates
We may revise this Cookie Policy when we change technologies or legal requirements shift. Continued use after the effective date of an update constitutes acknowledgement unless a fresh consent is legally required for new non-essential technologies.
